The inaugural list of The World's 50 Best Hotels was just announced in a ceremony in London and the United States has reason to celebrate. Aman New York was ranked no. 25 in the world. Considered the most expensive hotel in New York, the extremely luxurious property opened within the Crown Building on Fifth Avenue last summer, bringing unprecedented opulence to the already high-end neighborhood.
It boasts a total of 83 suites, a massive space sprawled over three floors with an indoor 20-meter pool, 10 treatment rooms, fitness facilities and two Spa Houses. Plus, hot and cold plunge pools and an outdoor terrace with a cabana, daybed and fireplace. There are two signature restaurants (Italian dining concept Arva and Japanese eatery Nama) and a jazz club hosting daily live performances. Should you want to make this lifestyle permanent, Aman New York offers 22 branded private residences.
The hotel is the third Aman property in the U.S., following Wyoming and Utah. The newest of the three certainly caught the attention of the World's 50 Best folks, who based their first-ever hotel list on outstanding hotel experiences worldwide. The ranking reflects the top travel experiences of 580 anonymous voters, including a mix of hoteliers, journalists and seasoned industry vets. Any hotel worldwide is eligible for votes and doesn't have to fit any criteria.
Equinox Hotel New York in Hudson Yards was the second U.S. property to make the coveted ranking, coming in at no.48. The wellness-focused hotel features soundproofed rooms with blackout blinds for some of the best sleep of your life. Currently, rooms are just under $1000, which is a steal for a luxury stay compared to Aman New York's approximate $3000 a night.
As for the other big winners, Aman Tokyo came in at no. 5 while the no. 1 spot went to Passalacqua in Moltrasio on Italy's Lake Como, while the One&Only Mandarina in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico was named the best hotel in North America.
