Luxury rail travel through the American Southwest is about to get even better. The Rocky Mountaineer will be rebranded in the U.S. as Canyon Spirit and will extend its popular Rockies to the Red Rocks route to include Salt Lake City, Utah.

This expansion transforms the already spectacular journey into a three-day rail adventure connecting Denver to Salt Lake City. Along the way, passengers will enjoy overnight stays in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, and Moab, Utah—two scenic destinations that add to the train’s immersive Southwest experience.

Canyon Spirit’s parent company, Armstrong Collective, sees this as a major step in showcasing the beauty of the region. “We could not be more excited to bring our Canyon Spirit train to Salt Lake City and to expand our Rockies to the Red Rocks route further into the beautiful state of Utah,” said CEO Tristan Armstrong. “Although the name of our train is changing, our world-class service and onboard experience will remain the same.”

The additional day of travel will take passengers through eastern Utah’s dramatic mountain passes and the open landscapes of the Great Basin before arriving in Salt Lake City. Onboard, guests can expect attentive service, storytelling about the region’s history and meals featuring locally-sourced cuisine paired with regional wines and spirits.

The Rockies to the Red Rocks Extension launches on April 21, 2026, with weekly departures. The journey, including hotel stays in Glenwood Springs and Moab, starts at $2,123 per person. Find more info at thecanyonspirit.com.
