At the annual World’s 50 Best Bars event on Tuesday night, cocktail connoisseurs, mixologists and bartenders gathered to embrace new trends, new flavors, breakthrough creations and more as every hangover cure known to mankind was put to the toughest of tests.
The competition is held every year and organized by UK-based media and events company William Reed, that specialize in the food and drinks sector. For the past few years, the event has been held in London, but it draws entries from all over the world and this year was no exception, with nominees from as far afield as Mexico City, Dubai, New York, Singapore, Bangkok, Madrid, Rome, Hong Kong, Sydney and more.
Barcelona won big: Paradiso, secured the coveted number one spot and Sips snuck in at number three, winning the bronze. The U.S. didn't do badly at all, but the best bar in North America award went across the border to Mexico.

In the Best in Continent category, Licorería Limantour in Mexico City won the Best Bar in North America 2022 award. New York actually had a total of six in the top 50, with Miami and Chicago both scoring one, Café La Trova and Kumiko, respectively.
In the national category, Katana Kitten in New York City won Best U.S. Cocktail Bar and Happy Accidents in Albuquerque, NM, won Best New U.S. Cocktail Bar.
