America, you've chosen your favorite candy (drum roll, please): Skittles. CandyStore.com just crunched 13 years worth of numbers (2007-2019), scouring data from all around the country to populate a map that highlights each state's top 3 favorite candies during Halloween season.
You can play around with the interactive map above. Once you hover on a specific state, the top choices for the area will pop up.
The site also analyzed nation-wide trends to generate a list of top ten most popular candies overall in the United States. Here they are:

The company went ahead and also revealed some pretty interesting Halloween-related factoids. Did you know, for example, that the country is on track to spend around $2.4 billion on Halloween candy this year? That's only slightly down from last year's $2.6 billion worth of expenditures. Overall, 172 million Americans celebrate Halloween and 95% of them will purchase candy in connection to the holiday (each person will spend $27.55 on average). According to the site, most shopping is actually done during the first two weeks of October. Also, a reason to consider celebrating the day in Oregon: full-sized candy bars are the norm there for trick-or-treaters. Yes, you read that right.
