Will it surprise anyone to learn that the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Colorado are host to one-third of North America’s best ski resorts? Probably not! The list compiled by Tripadvisor names the top 15 best places to ski in North America for 2023, and Colorado snagged five of the spots.
While ‘best of’ lists can sometimes be slanted, real travelers visiting destinations and leaving honest reviews make the Tripadvisor awards a reliable source. The ski list is part of Tripadvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best Destination Awards and arises out of the company analyzing millions of reviews left by visitors to its platform over the last 12 months.
While Whistler in British Columbia earned the #1 spot thanks to a reliable supply of snow, a beautiful pedestrian-only village and stunning mountain views (and proximity to Vancouver), Colorado dominated the list.
Durango ranked highest on this list for Colorado, at #6, followed closely by Breckenridge (#7) and Vail (#8). Steamboat Springs came in at #11 and Aspen at #12. Some may argue with the order, but it’s clear that Colorado is monumentally popular with skiers who leave reviews.
Jackson, Wyoming also gets big love from visitors, coming in second place, while Park City, Utah took the bronze.
If Colorado wins for having five entries on the list, Canada is breathing down its neck with three entries. Besides the #1 Whistler, Mont Tremblant in Québec garnered the #13 slot on the list, while Revelstoke in British Columbia grabbed #15.
