Ranking as the number one campground in the U.S. is “The Wall” in Buffalo Gap National Grasslands in South Dakota. This spot is about a mile from one of the primary overlooks in Badlands. There are no amenities, but the incredible views, sunsets, night skies and opportunities for wildlife spotting 100 percent make up for it.
Saddle Mountain in Kaibab National Forest In Arizona comes in at number two. Its location on a less-visited part of the North Rim of the Grand Canyon affords undisturbed views. Sacred White Shell Mountain in Colorado, close to Great Sand Dunes National Park and Zapata Falls, is number three.
