Wealthy people seek out expensive cities with plenty of luxurious options for living, shopping and playing. The wealthiest cities in the world are hubs of millionaires and billionaires, and the annual World's Wealthiest Cities Report from Henley & Partners reveals these top spots for the super-rich. The list of 50 cities spans the globe, and the number one wealthiest city—along with four other cities—is right here in the U.S.
The annual report ranks the top 50 cities globally by their millionaire and billionaire count, tracks shifts in wealth and throws a spotlight on the rise (and fall) of some of the planet’s glitziest spots. It covers everything from prime property to investment migration and benchmarks over 100 centi-millionaire hubs.
Topping the list is our very own New York City. With 384,500 millionaires, 818 centi-millionaires and 66 billionaires, it reigns supreme as a destination for wealth. The Bay Area has shot up to number two, with a 98 percent millionaire growth over the past decade. The area is home to 400 millionaires, 756 centi-millionaires and 82 billionaires. Los Angeles comes in at number five and Chicago wraps up the top 10 at number 10.
