Itching to visit an island paradise this year but don't want to bother with passports? The US Virgin Islands just announced its reopening date—and it's only 4 days away.
The US Virgin Islands, a United States territory in the Caribbean home to popular beach spots like St. Croix and St. Thomas, will reopen to tourists starting June 1. The islands are currently still under a safer-at-home order which requires people to wear masks in public buildings, limits gatherings to 10 people or less, and requires bars and restaurants to operate at 50 percent capacity.
In addition, new safety and cleaning protocols will be put in place for the reopening including updated guidance for reception and concierge desks, cleaning and housekeeping, dining rooms and maintenance services. The new rules also include specific guidelines for taxis vans, safaris and limo services.
The Virgin Islands reopening comes in the same week that St. Lucia and Antigua will reopen on June 4. Elsewhere in the Caribbean, Jamaica plans to reopen on June 15 and Turks and Caicos will reopen on July 22.
