Taco Bell’s newest offering is a fast food favorite, but not something you’d expect to see on its menus. The chain is debuting a not-so-Mexican-inspired item this week: chicken nuggets.

This all-American treat might seem out of place next to burritos, tacos, Gorditas and crunchwaps, but you can expect a Taco Bell twist that will make these nuggets feel right at home. These all-white meat chicken nuggets are marinated in a zesty jalapeño buttermilk blend and then coated in a crispy mix of tortilla chips and breadcrumbs. They will be available for a limited time, starting on December 19.

Taco Bell is stepping into a highly loyal chicken nugget arena—a space dominated by giants like McDonald’s, Chick-fil-A and Wendy’s. But as customers lean hard into chicken over beef, the move makes sense. An interest in more chicken options led to the debut of Taco Bell’s Cantina Chicken Menu, featuring oven-roasted, shredded chicken.

In addition to chicken nuggets, Taco Bell is introducing bold new sauces. The lineup includes a tangy, signature Bell Sauce, a jalapeño honey mustard and a spicy ranch developed in partnership with Hidden Valley.

Pricing starts at $3.99 for five nuggets with one sauce or $6.99 for a 10-piece with two sauces, depending on location. For the ultimate fast-food feast, there’s also a $10.49 value meal featuring five nuggets, a crunchy taco, beef chalupa, nacho fries and a medium soda.

This isn’t Taco Bell’s first attempt at this kind of offering—the chain debuted nugget-adjacent Naked Chicken Chips back in 2017—but this time, they’re betting on bigger flavors and sauces to win over nugget fans.
