After reopening to international tourism last fall, 16 recent coronavirus cases in the dual-island nation of St. Kitts and Nevis has caused the Caribbean locale to resume a modified lockdown state. Starting May 29, only vaccinated visitors will be allowed to travel to the islands (with exemptions for citizens, residents and children).
If you are planning a vacation to St. Kitts and Nevis this summer, here's what you need to know. All travellers must complete the Travel Authorization Form on the national website and submit a copy of their official vaccination card by scanning the front and back. The vaccination card must also be sent for verification via email (send to officeofcmo@gov.kn with the subject line: Vaccination Card) or WhatsApp (send to 869-762-0238 or 869-765-4880). The date of arrival and the KN number generated on the completed KNA travel form must be included.
In addition, all visitors must submit a Covid-19 RT-PCR negative test result from a CLIA/CDC/UKAS-approved lab accredited with ISO/IEC 17025 standard and taken 72 hours prior to travel. Only then will travellers receive permission to enter the St. Kitts and Nevis.
Once on the islands, travellers should have a copy of both their negative test and their vaccination card with them. Upon arrival, visitors will undergo an additional health screening at the airport which includes a temperature check and a health questionnaire.
Fully vaccinated air travelers will then be asked to 'Vacation in Place' at an approved hotel for nine days where they are free to interact with other guests and partake in hotel activities only. Travellers staying beyond nine days are required to be tested on day nine (at their own expense – approx. $150) and once the test is negative, they may integrate into the Federation to participate in tours, attractions, restaurants, beach bars, and shopping.
Families travelling with unvaccinated children are welcome, but will not be allowed to integrate into the Federation until after the child is tested on day 14 and the test results come back negative.
In addition to the stricter entry rules, a curfew was imposed from 11pm to 5am daily, starting May 25 and lasting for 14 days.
