It's never too late to book a trip. And if you're a sale seeker, Southwest Airlines' latest sale will help you hit the road ASAP.

A new national "up and away" sale running through Thursday, April 20 offers one-way fares for as low as $59.

May travel is included, but fares must be at least 21 days (3 weeks) in advance to secure these low rates valid on flights to and from cities across the continental U.S., Hawaii, San Juan, Puerto Rico, plus some international destinations, including Cancun, Mexico. Sale fares are available May 2 through May 24, 2023, and August 15 through November 1, 2023. Points can be used, but travelers will still have to pay government fees of $5.60 per one-way flight.

To help decide where you want to go, enter your local airport on Southwest's website, and you'll be given a list of prices to fly to dozens of cities. The website's signature low-fare calculator can also help you decide when to fly and when to return (or continue your trip elsewhere) while taking advantage of the lower sale prices. Some of the best deals are $49 flights between Hawaiian islands, a $60 fare between Los Angeles and Tahoe, a $141 fare from Chicago to Bozeman, Montana to see Yellowstone National Park and a $59 flight between Atlanta and Nashville.

Though Southwest's major cancellation kerfuffle last year may have swayed passengers to another carrier, the airline is working to amp up its service. In December, the airline announced they'll start letting families board first, part of a larger effort of airlines helping seat families together
