A slew of factors go into ranking the best cities in America, and Resonance Consultancy, advisors in real estate, tourism and economic development and the firm behind WorldsBestCities.com, has taken on the arduous task of looking at data from a range of measures to determine which cities come out on top.
Only cities with at least 500,000 people were considered for this ranking. The firm took into account factors like housing, walkability, community spirit and affordability to nightlife, culture and access to the outdoors. They even looked at things like Yelp reviews and hashtags to determine why people live in or visit these cities. So you know these rankings are tight.
And the winner? The best city in the U.S. is, not surprisingly, New York City. Despite some struggles, NYC is back, with tourism currently booming. The city has one of the best public transportation systems, it’s very walkable and has some of the best cultural landmarks, attractions, nightlife and dining options. NYC has ranked number one since Resonance began its survey in 2016.
Next on the list is Chicago, with a notable food and nightlife scene. Despite well-publicized struggles with crime, Chicago’s downtown is actually among the safest in the country. Following Chicago is Los Angeles, scoring high for its diversity, business opportunities, entertainment, arts and food scene.
Here’s the full countdown of the top ten best cities in America: New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., Miami, Boston, Seattle, Houston and San Jose.
