The days of endlessly scrolling through Netflix to find something to watch are almost behind us as the streaming giant is currently testing out a new shuffle button that will randomly play a movie or TV show for you. The selection will be made based on your preferences and viewing history.
The button has been in testing mode across TV screens since July. Some folks on social media have reported already seeing the addition on their screens, albeit in different formats. "We run these tests in different countries and for different periods of time," a Netflix representative told TheVerge.com. "[We] only make them broadly available if people find them useful."
The new functionality will undoubtedly help bring eyes on the vast roster of shows and films available on the platform that mostly go unseen. Sometimes, there is just too much to watch and having someone else pick our next binge-watching subject is the only way to overcome viewer paralysis. Speaking of: here is everything new landing on the platform next month.
Since stay-at-home orders took over the world back in April, Netflix noted a surge in subscribers. Ten million new people signed up for the service during its second quarter—an astounding number indeed, and one that will likely welcome the new shuffle button with delight. But if you happen to be a bit more old-school, looking to select your own viewing material, consider perusing through our lists of best movies on Netflix right now and overall best Netflix series.
