Michelin's going Southwest, y'all. On August 26, the Michelin Guide unveiled its very first American Southwest edition, with an inaugural ceremony at the glamorous Fontainebleau Las Vegas that brought together chefs, restaurateurs and hospitality leaders from across Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah to celebrate the region's diverse, thriving food culture.
The evening spotlighted a total of 64 selected restaurants spanning 24 distinct cuisine types, demonstrating the immense breadth of talent across the four states. Leading the historic honors was a familiar Las Vegas dining institution: Restaurant de Joël Robuchon at the MGM Grand. Taking home the night’s top recognition with two Michelin Stars, the contemporary French sanctuary reclaimed its place among culinary royalty, joining just 39 other restaurants nationwide with the prestigious distinction.

Four exceptional establishments earned one Michelin Star. Eponymous Las Vegas heavyweights led the local contingent, including the avant-garde é by José Andrés, the opulent Guy Savoy Las Vegas at Caesars Palace and the sleek L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon. Rounding out the starred lineup was Monte in South Salt Lake.
While Las Vegas counter-concepts and celebrity chef flagships captured major headlines, inspectors praised the entire Southwest for its rich variety and local spirit. Renowned regional mainstays—such as Christopher Gross at Wrigley Mansion in Phoenix and Restaurant Martin in Santa Fe—gained Michelin Recommended honors. Meanwhile, the Bib Gourmand category highlighted incredible everyday value. Standouts included Phoenix’s legendary Pizzeria Bianco and the multifaceted Valentine as well as Las Vegas's mother-daughter-operated Yen Viet Kitchen.
From individual honors like the Sommelier and Mindful Voices Awards to budget-friendly neighborhood favorites, the inaugural Southwest guide leaves no doubt that high-caliber dining thrives across every corner of the desert landscape.
