New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced yesterday that major retailers are now requiring shoppers to wear face coverings while in their stores nationwide. These include Costco, C-Town, Gristedes and D'Agostino, Stop & Shop and Tops.

As each state begins unveiling reopening plans aimed at reviving the local economy and slowly returning to a semblance of normalcy, certain chain stores have taken it upon themselves to set up regulations to guide patrons through this time period.

Walmart and Trader Joe's, for example, are encouraging folks to wear masks but only enforcing the requirement if mandated by local guidelines. Walgreens, on the other hand, is also asking shoppers to don face coverings but won't stop people from entering the store if not complying, out of concern for their own employees' safety. Although adults are required to wear a face mask inside of Costco, children under two and people with medical conditions that prevent them from opting into the measure are exempt.

As we slowly enter a new normal all around the country, we encourage everybody to keep one thing in mind: stay safe. Whether you're shopping, going for a walk, heading to a restaurant or even thinking about taking a trip, it's important to stay alert and keep calm. We're all in this together!
