The best airline for families was recently announced on MONEY’s 2023 Travel Awards list. Southwest Airlines took home the top prize for family airline travel, most notably making it convenient and easy for families to sit together. The airline does not provide seat assignments, meaning families traveling together can board the plane early and choose seats near one another. Additionally, Southwest doesn’t charge travelers for switching or canceling flights, making it pretty seamless to switch your travel plans around should any last-minute changes pop up. For those traveling with young children, flexibility is paramount.
Travelers flying Southwest Airlines are also allowed two free checked bags, making it more affordable for those flying with children and all the extra baggage they require (no pun intended). Plus, family-friendly content is available for free on the airline’s Inflight Entertainment Portal.
