President Joe Biden just announced a new set of requirements for all international travelers landing in the United States, including a mandatory 10-day quarantine upon arrival. The new directive comes just a day before another one goes into effect. The latter asks all incoming travelers to present a negative COVID-19 test result prior to boarding any flight.

"In addition to wearing masks, everyone flying to the United States from another country, will need to test before they get on that plane, before they depart, and quarantine when they arrive in America," the President announced during a press conference a few days ago.

Given the much confusion over the various types of COVID-19 tests currently circulating, Biden also asked Homeland Security and the United States Department of Health and Human Services to look into the matter and denote which tests are acceptable and how travelers could properly show result proof. The President is also seeking alternative options for folks who don't have access to tests prior to departure.

Of course, all conversations are made as vaccine distribution seems to be picking up across the country, prompting many to wonder whether that will eventually factor into travel requirements all around the globe.

Since taking office less than a week ago, Biden has introduced a number of other measures seeking to halt the spread of COVID-19, including an executive order mandating mask-wearing on all federal property (think planes, national parks and more). Here's to hoping the situation only improves from here on out.
