Palm Desert, a neighbor to more well-known desert commune, Palm Springs, has always been known for its aesthetic. So it makes sense that this SoCal city is now home to one of the most fabulous Airbnb hosts in the game: Queer Eye host Bobby Berk. As the show’s interior design guru, Berk pretty much does all the heavy lifting on the show, transforming houses, businesses and even barbecue shacks into luxe havens for owners and guests alike and his new California Airbnb is no exception to his excellent eye for design.
As reported by Forbes, lucky guests will get the run of the seven-bedroom home Berk describes on Airbnb as a “desert oasis affectionately known as Casa Tierra.” That includes five king-sized rooms, one queen, and one air-mattress in a common space. Located 30 minutes from Palm Springs, it’s a 5,000-square-foot Spanish style getaway decorated in the colors and textures of the desert landscape, says Berk. Palm Desert is surrounded by mountains and dotted with palm trees, the perfectly Instagrammable “California view."
Berk’s listing says he has handpicked the furniture, artwork and feature pieces, and hopes they will inspire guests’ own design choices. In the living room that he describes as a show stopper, there are basket lighting fixtures he sourced from Tunisia.
There’s a heated pool and hot tub with plenty of privacy and a cute stone bridge that crosses over a wash. Order a cocktail at the "Casita Agua Bar' which has a great design element: the chance to sit on a swing while you sip. There’s a bocce ball court, a theater room and designated yoga and meditation areas. Sounds like the kind of relaxation you need after an overhaul of one’s style!
Or jump in the car to reach nearby El Paseo, which has a nine-block shopping district, and hiking paths. Perhaps best of all, you can bring up to two pets (for a fee). It’s close to $3,000 a night plus heavy associated fees (we did a test booking for a Thursday through Saturday night booking which came to $12,339), but if you have it, this seems like a great place to spend it.
And is it any surprise Berk has gotten five-star reviews from 95 percent of his visitors thus far?
