Everything you need to know about the vice presidential debate: time, channel and streaming options

Tonight is the night that the 2024 vice presidential candidates—Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Ohio Senator JD Vance—will face off in a vice presidential debate. It’s the only time they will spar face-to-face, so here’s everything you need to know to watch.
The debate starts at 9pm EST on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.
The debate will air on CBS News and will also be simulcast by other major networks, including ABC, CNN, Fox News, NBC, CNBC, MSNBC, C-SPAN, PBS, NewsNation and BBC. Most networks will also offer pre- and post-debate coverage.
The debate can be streamed on the CBS News app, Paramount+ and on all platforms where CBS News 24/7 is available, including CBSNews.com and the CBS YouTube channel.
CBS Evening News anchor Norah O’Donnell and CBS chief foreign affairs correspondent Margaret Brennan will moderate the debate.
This is the first time the two vice presidential candidates have debated.
The debate will be 90 minutes, including two commercial breaks.
There will be no second vice presidential debate. Traditionally, only one is held between vice presidential candidates.
