Airbnb has released its 2024 Winter Travel Trends report, and relaxation, cultural immersion and adventure are top of travelers’ lists this winter season.

Concerts and sporting events continue to drive “event-cations” as travelers book stays in cities like Indio, California, Indianapolis, Indiana and Vancouver, Canada. College towns like Auburn, Alabama, and South Bend, Indiana, are booking fast as fans head out for big game-day matchups. Other trending destinations include Blacksburg, Virginia; Oxford, Mississippi; Iowa City, Iowa; State College, Pennsylvania; Tacoma, Washington and Lubbock, Texas.

Those seeking out winter skiing and other snowy adventures are looking to spots like Big Bear Lake in California, Breckenridge and Steamboat Springs in Colorado and Park City in Utah. Winter-averse travelers are swapping snow for sandy beaches in Jamaica and the Dominican Republic.

Airbnb reports that U.S. travelers are seeking cultural immersion in international cities like Joinville, Fortaleza, and Itajaí in Brazil and foodie destinations like Logroño.

Group travel is still trending, as families and friend groups look for stays where they can spread out and hang out. They’re looking for amenities like kitchens, pools, hot tubs and kitchens. Other trending categories on the Airbnb platform include stays that offer access to national parks, golf, and beaches.

Airbnb is preparing to welcome its two billionth guest arrival, and this latest trend report shows guests continue to seek out fun, relaxation and memory-making opportunities when booking their stays.
