Although Walt Disney World has yet to make an official announcement about the news, it appears as if the park will re-open in some capacity starting the beginning of July. The destination's online ticketing and reservation system is now accepting bookings starting July 1 for both park passes and hotel stays. Dates through May and June are still blacked out.
To the excitement of many, the theme park previously announced the reopening of Disney Springs—the on-site dining and shopping district—on May 20. Other areas of the resort are still closed and a reopening date has not yet been determined.
Of course, the eventual reopening plans will include various phases and overall changes seeking to abide by social distancing guidelines. Expect both guests and employees to wear masks and for contact between them to be limited. In addition to extra cleaning measures all throughout the destination, the company has announced limited parking, operating hours and capacity. Better to be safe than sorry, of course.
In China, Shanghai Disneyland already opened back up, albeit with a limited amount of people allowed to enter and social distancing rules in place. Will the United States officially be next?
