You read that right: a "potentially historic" May snowstorm is headed to the Northeast and New England this weekend. And it's not just about snow: temperatures are expected to be freezing on Saturday, with gusts of wind hitting us at over 40 mph. It will also be raining.

Cities that should be on the look out include Albany and Binghamton in New York, Burlington in Vermont, Scranton in Pennsylvania and Syracuse in Rochester. Fun times ahead, guys!

According to NBC News, the weather event will be dictated by the clashing of a polar vortex with a storm system moving towards the area at the same time. "Widespread snowfall totals will range from a dusting to 6-8 inches in some spots, while isolated areas in extreme northern New England could see up to a foot," reports the outlet. "If this happens, it will shatter May snowfall records." It will be colder than it was during Christmas Day of this year across many cities, according to the reports.

Given the fact that most of the country is stuck indoors anyway, the news shouldn't really affect us so much—yet there is something about bad weather that makes the day a bit harder to tackle, even if we're witnessing it from the comfort of our own abodes. And, considering it's almost mid-May, the absurdity of the weather reports are not lost on us. That being said, nothing really surprises us anymore.

Stay safe, America!
