As Americans all over the country consider moving to different cities given the ability to properly work from home these days, Northwest Arkansas is trying to seduce people to relocate there by offering them $10,000 in cash plus a street or mountain bike. Not into cycling? You can opt for an annual membership to one of the local cultural institutions instead. A pretty good deal, if you ask us.
The effort is part of the Life Works Here initiative, which seeks to attract top talent to ensure steady economic growth within the region.
"With one of the best costs of living, plentiful outdoor lifestyle perks, nationally ranked arts, culture and cuisine scenes, and per capita income that’s 14% higher than the national average, the Northwest Arkansas region offers a unique opportunity to create balance for those eager to move from congested and expensive larger cities and suburbs," reads the initiative's official website.
To be eligible to apply and get your hands on the offered prizes, you must currently live outside of the area, be at least 24 years old, be eligible to work and live within the United States and have the ability to relocate to Northwest Arkansas within six months of a possible acceptance. Given folks' interest in relocating, this is not the first program of its kind. In fact, the town of Cinquefrondi in southern Italy, was selling houses for a mere €1 while other states within the U.S. like Oklahoma and Vermont have also been offering people cash to move there.
