Seeking tranquility? You may want to visit (or move to—why not?) America's most tranquil cities.

A new list of the world's most tranquil places by TravelBag analyzes several major cities' noise and light pollution levels, average tourist numbers, population density, air quality, and the number of walking trails to curate peaceful spots.

At the top of the list for the world's most tranquil city is Juneau, Alaska. The capital of the 49th state, Juneau has a population density of just five people per square kilometer, meaning folks out here can enjoy quiet and solitude. Better yet, this waterfront Southeast Alaskan city offers plenty of natural beauty and a perfect air quality score (100 out of 100), so you can take as many deep breaths as you need to reach tranquility.

While Juneau may feel remote for some, it's a quick flight over from the Pacific Northwest and Seattle, and a popular spot on Alaskan cruises (though cruise days in town may feel a little less tranquil).

TravelBag's most tranquil rankings include several more American cities, many of which may surprise Americans. Atlanta is named the second most tranquil city, thanks to low population density and wonderful green spaces, museums and spas to decompress at. Honolulu comes in third place, perhaps for obvious reasons (stress and Hawaii don't mix), with Dallas and Las Vegas rounding out the top five list.

And though Sin City may not seem like the world's most tranquil getaway, after blowing off some steam at the casinos, visitors can unwind at luxurious spas, and walk or hike the Red Rock Canyon trails or over 184 walking trails available in the area.
