Lovers of coke and coffee, rejoice: Coca-Cola just announced the release of a new product, Coca-Cola With Coffee, beginning this upcoming January in the United States. The new flavor will be made by combining good ol' regular coke and 100% Brazilian coffee. Talk about over-caffeination.
Customers will be treated to three different varieties of the flavor: dark blend, vanilla and caramel, each one boasting 69 milligrams of caffeine per 12-ounce can. For reference: a regular can of Coke infuses you with 34 milligrams of caffeine while Diet Coke contains 46 milligrams of the good stuff.
This isn't the company's first foray into coffee-flavored drinks. Back in 2006, Coca-Cola Blak—quite literally, coffee-flavored Coke—debuted to little fanfare, which led the soda giant to stop selling the product a mere two years after launching. The new iteration of the offering contains even more caffeine than its predecessor.
Interestingly enough, Coca-Cola With Coffee is already being sold in Brazil, Italy, Japan and Turkey. The decision to expand to the American market clearly had a lot to do with the current state of global affairs. "The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the need for us to be more disciplined in how we launch, validate, refine and scale up big bets like this," said Javier Meza, chief marketing officer for The Coca-Cola Company’s sparkling beverage portfolio in an official press release announcing the news. "We're excited to bring Coca-Cola With Coffee to the United States and apply learning from so many markets that have gotten us to where we are today." Needless to say, we are oh-so-ready to try this thing out ourselves.
