Best private members' club hotels in the U.S.

1. Aman Club at Aman New York | NY

Aman New York opened in 2022 inside Manhattan’s landmark Crown Building and became an instant beacon of hyper-exclusivity. This tranquil, Beaux Arts-style property touts a year-round garden terrace and the flagship Aman Spa—both among the largest in the city. Expect uncompromising attention to every last detail during a stay here, including in the home-like suites with working fireplaces, three wellness floors and four food and beverage concepts available only to members and guests. A night at Aman New York starts around $2,000 in low season, while the membership itself will set you back $15,000 annually plus a $200,000 initiation fee.

Time Out tip: Aman’s basement speakeasy, The Jazz Club, is the only space open to the public, hosting live music and DJs starting late on most nights.

2. Casa Cipriani New York | NY

What was once a 1909 ferry terminal at the lower tip of Manhattan has been transformed into Casa Cipriani, a coveted Financial District destination laced with Art Deco history and Italian charm. The opulent members' club and hotel enjoy sweeping views of the New York harbor and waterfront esplanade just minutes away. Hotel guests and members have access to an expansive, light-filled gym and spa, the Cipriani restaurant and Jazz Café, multiple bars and outdoor terraces, a rooftop lounge and a new pool due to open soon. A room starts at around $900 per night during low season.

Time Out tip: Casa Cipriani enforces a strict dress code, so plan to leave your ripped jeans and baseball caps at home.

3. The Aster | Los Angeles, CA

Creatives flock to this retro-glam Hollywood gem in the center of the action. The Aster trades exclusivity for accessibility, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere for club members and hotel guests to work, play and relax. Amenities include work studios and meeting rooms, a 36-seat cinema, recording studio, cabaret, outdoor pool, rooftop restaurant and bar, gym and weight room and a packed calendar of events. The building itself is understated and bohemian, with 35 light-filled suites that range from around $200 to $400 per night, depending on the dates.

Time Out tip: Linger on the members' floor by day to peep industry folks doing their thing—table reads, pitch meetings and brainstorming sessions are all fair game.

Bardo is exactly the sort of members club you’d expect to find in Savannah, a quaint, luxuriant city spilling over with Southern charm and rooted in creative expression. Inspired by the social and intellectual gatherings that took place in early 20th-century salons, the members club and hotel resides in a whimsical Victorian mansion replete with glamorous design and centered around a manicured courtyard, pool, lawn and outdoor pool bar. Kick back at two restaurants and a lobby bar during your stay, which starts around $600 per night, depending on the room type.

Time Out tip: Foodies can sharpen their skills at the on-site Saint Bibiana Cooking School, which hosts pasta-making workshops and more.

5. The Battery | San Francisco, CA

All guests are considered Resident Members at The Battery, San Francisco’s elegant and eclectic member’s club with a 14-suite hotel, indoor pool, spa and gym. The vibe here is as meticulously curated as its membership (the only way in is through nomination and acceptance by the board), featuring moody, maximalist spaces by renowned designer Ken Fulk. There are a whopping seven food and beverage options and a slew of member events to explore, from comedy and DJ nights to wellness summits and wine tastings. A night at The Battery costs upwards of $500.

Time Out tip: The Battery is ideally situated for exploring some of the city’s most popular landmarks, like the Ferry Building and Fisherman’s Wharf, along with Oakland just across the bay.

6. Soho Beach House | Miami Beach, FL

Opened in 2010, Soho Beach House Miami is the third U.S. location of the pioneering London-born brand, which has since expanded to include 45 clubs worldwide. Located just north of South Beach, the petite Art Deco property encompasses 50 guest rooms, two outdoor pools, a Cowshed spa, and a handful of food and beverage offerings along its lush slice of oceanfront. Perhaps its biggest draw is the beach itself, where guests and members mingle on plush loungers and sip rosé from morning to night. Rooms start at upwards of $600 per night.

Time Out tip: Time your stay during major events like Art Basel Miami Beach and Miami Music Week to enjoy the club’s best annual parties (and people-watching).

7. Commodore Perry Estate | Austin, TX

The Commodore Perry Estate looks like it’s been imported piece by piece from some far-off European countryside and beautifully rearranged in Austin’s urban core. The 1920s-era mansion, its satellite buildings and dramatic oval-shaped pool sprawl across 10 acres, blending Italianate and Spanish Revival styles layered in Ken Fulk’s sumptuous designs. It features 52 rooms and suites for guests, who can also partake in member perks like workshops and chef’s dinners. A night’s stay typically starts around $500, depending on the dates.

Time Out tip: Book a brunch at Lutie’s, the on-site restaurant named after the wife of the mansion’s original owner, where everything is sourced from local farmers, ranchers and the Texas Gulf Coast.

8. Clayton Hotel & Members Club | Denver, CO

Clayton toes the line between Denver social scenes, striving to be elegant yet approachable, country club-adjacent yet inclusive, and definitely not stuffy. Situated in the affluent Cherry Creek district, it boasts two restaurants (including one on the rooftop pool deck), both open to guests and members only. There’s no spa, but you will find a sleek fitness center with a steam room, plus lots of fun, cozy spaces to lounge and mingle, like a parlor, library, sunroom, and co-working space.

Time Out tip: Check their calendar of events to enhance your stay. Some are members-only, but many, like book-writing workshops and comedy shows, are open to guests, too.

9. The Moore | Miami, FL

Located in a historic building in one of the city’s most ultra-modern enclaves, The Moore is Miami’s newest stunning social club and hotel. True to its name, the Design District is lined with luxury fashion, art galleries and furniture boutiques, and some of the city's best restaurants. Make it your home while staying at this immaculately reinvisioned property featuring just 13 suites. Hotel guests are free to roam the private restaurant, karaoke and game rooms, and late-night speakeasy, dubbed The Rabbit Hole, among other sexy nooks. A night here ranges from around $800 to $2,500.

Time Out tip: Elastika, the property’s public-facing restaurant on the ground floor, features a mesmerizing sculptural installation by famed artist and architect Zaha Hadid that floats above the dining room.

10. Pendry Newport Beach | CA

The Pendry is a boutique luxury hotel brand with seven properties across the U.S., but its Newport Beach location is home to the swanky Elwood Club. This gives the property a more exclusive vibe (membership is by invitation only), though the whole affair feels more resort-like than anything else. Enjoy amenities like a pool, spa, and fitness center, as well as California-casual rooms designed by Studio Munge. A night here ranges from around $100 and $1000, depending on the room type.

Time Out tip: Elwood’s restaurant, Viamara, is open to hotel guests based on availability, but there are four more concepts to explore, too.
