In a move sure to prove as torturous to some as a night in Ramsay Bolton's dungeon, HBO has just officially announced that it will delay production—and the premiere—of Game of Thrones’ seventh season.

That's a "Hold the door"-level blow.

HBO will eschew the traditional spring debut of GoT in 2017 and instead air the first episode during the summer. So yes, winter is coming next sum...well, you get it.

Why the delay? Well it's something to do with the weather.

According to Carter Bloys, president of HBO programming: “Now that winter has arrived on Game of Thrones, executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss felt that the storylines of the next season would be better served by starting production a little later than usual, when the weather is changing.”

Oh, and season seven will only seven episodes long. Insert Jon Snow Crying GIF right friggin’ here
