The first volume of Netflix's summer hit show Stranger Things' soundtrack drops digitally tomorrow—and we're pumped.
The soundtrack, by Austin band SURVIVE—of which Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein, who score the show, are part of—will be split into two volumes. The first one will be released as a CD by Lakeshore/Netflix on September 16. Expect the second volume to drop digitally on August 19, with a CD release set for September 23.
"We'd seen a little bit of the aesthetic they were going for," Stein told Rolling Stone when discussing the challenges involved in scoring the sci-fi show. "But there weren't scripts yet, there were just, like, these vague, kind of character descriptions. And to make scenes based on those ideas, you just had to [...] kind of imagine what that was and feel it out and send it over. And some of those things actually just locked in and like stayed very early on."
Although the first volume will feature SURVIVE's own music (check out the full track list below), expect the second volume to boast 70s and 80s rock classics.
Can't wait until Friday to listen to the haunting tunes? Here are two samples that were dropped today, tracks "She'll Kill You" and "A Kiss:"
