Chester Bennington, the lead singer of rock band Linkin Park, was found dead in Southern California earlier this morning. He was 41 years old.
An apparent suicide by hanging, the news came out mere hours after the band's new "Talking to Myself" music video release.
Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda tweeted: "Shocked and heartbroken, but it's true. An official statement will come out as soon as we have one."
The singer was friends with former Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell, who shocked audiences when committing suicide back in May. At the time, Bennington wrote an emotional tribute to Cornell on social media. "I can't imagine a world without you in it," he wrote. "I pray you find peace in the next life." Today would have been Cornell's 53rd birthday.
Bennington leaves behind six children.
