Who could ever forget Stan? The over-obsessive fan that was the subject of Eminem and Dido's 2000 hit "Stan," a song that chronicled the fan's one-way correspondence with the rapper until his (spoiler alert) suicide.

Check out the video below to refresh your memory and get reacquainted with the song as "stan" has officially been added to our everyday lexicon, courtesy of the English Oxford Dictionary

According to the dictionary, a stan is "an overzealous or obsessive fan of a particular celebrity." The origin of the word is listed as "early 21st century: probably with allusion to the 2000 song "Stan" by the American rapper Eminem, about an obsessed fan."

Stan can apparently also be used as a verb and, to demonstrate, the dictionary uses this example: "Y'all know I stan for Katy Perry, so I was excited to see the artwork for her upcoming album."

Now: Will "covfefe" finally get a definition as well?
