Christmas is getting its ass totally whooped today by everyone's favorite new holiday: National Doughnut Day.*

What is National Doughnut Day? Well, it happens on June 3 and is basically a celebration of fried round things—it was kicked off in 1938 by the Salvation Army to celebrate their "Doughnut Lassies" who gave sweets to the troops during WWII—and a time when purveyors of those fried round things tend to give them away for free or offer great special deals.

Doughnuts. For free. Be still our palpitating hearts!

Your local doughnut shop probably has a deal going...but two national big players are also getting in on the #NationalDonutDay game. Here's how you can score free doughnuts across America:

Dunkin' Donuts

The chain that keeps America running is offering a free doughnut (glazed, jelly, Bostom Kreme or strawberry frosted) when you purchase a drink. Find your nearest store here.

Krispy Kreme

You can get a free doughnut of any variety at your local Krispy Kreme (unless you're in Connecticut, sorry), with no purchase necessary. That's right. Step right up, open your hands and say, "DOUGHNUT." Find your nearest location here.

Not a fan of the chains? Check out our picks for the best doughnut shops in America.

*Not an actual holiday, but anyone wanna start a change.org campaign to fix that?
