Instagram is the bearer of exciting news this month: After letting us know that we are, indeed, a nation filled with love (the most utilized emoji on the app this year was the heart), official data released by the company indicates that we are also incredibly fun, being that the top two most Instagrammed locations around the world in 2016 have been theme parks. Specifically, Disney theme parks earned the top spot on the list, followed by theme parks at Universal Studios.

On the released list, which includes the 20 most Instagrammed locations of the year, well over 10 are in the United States of America. From New York's Central Park and Times Square (and Brooklyn Bridge and Madison Square Garden and the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Empire State Building) to the Las Vegas Strip and Los Angeles International Airport, America appears to be a fan-favorite on the app.

Outside of this dear country of ours, Paris' Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame Cathedral and Louvre Museum join Rome's Colosseum, London's Tower Bridge and the Barcelona Centre as some of the most photographed subjects in Europe.

Cheers to 2017 being the year of travel... Whether documented on Instagram or not.
