Events to stream

Lockdown won’t stop this Hackney pub from having its Monday night noodle-scratcher. For every week the bar is shut, it’ll be hosting the quiz via Instagram. If you want to get as close to the full Pembury Tavern experience as possible, you can prep for the quiz by ordering up a takeaway pizza and Five Points beer from the pub. At the end of the quiz, the three highest scorers will be picked at random and rewarded with a pair of Five Points Brewery Tour vouchers.
Mondays, 7pm. Free.

If there’s one thing we’ve learned about ourselves as a nation during lockdown, it’s that we won’t let a pandemic get in the way of a good pub quiz. Pubs across the nation have taken their quizzes online and this one is purporting to be Britain's biggest. Bring a pen and paper and prepare to get that grey matter going with your host, Jayde Adams.
Fridays, 7pm. Free.

Is it bingo? Or is it a pub quiz? We’ll take the mystery away right now: it’s a pub quiz. But it’s a damn good one, and host Ian Davies keeps things lively from his living room. So far, he’s managed to raise hundreds for NHS charities; and, he’ll even do a birthday shout-out if you post it on the Facebook page ahead of time.
Fridays, 8pm. Free.

This is far from your average virtual quiz. This one is part quiz, part CABARET, run by queer London party troupe Sink The Pink. Every Thursday, drag star Ginger Johnson will take to the STP Instagram for a live quiz where you can win prizes of loo roll and gin (what else do you need, honestly). Johnson will be shaking up Wildcat Gin cocktails throughout (why? sponsorship, honey) and promises plenty of animal print looks and ’Tiger King’ references. So come on you cool cats and kittens, tune in.
Thursdays, 7.30pm. Free.

We knew that the folks at The National Theatre had access to A-grade talent; but for them to announce a pub quiz hosted by Sir Ian McKellen, Dame Helen Mirren, Sir Lenny Henry and Lesley Manville is borderline showing off. But hey, we’re not complaining! These legends of stage and screen hosted the first session in April. The last Monday of June will see a new group of celeb hosts on your screen.
Final Monday of each month, 7pm. Free.

Keen for a quiz night that’s a little more chilled-out? Embrace those weekday local pub vibes with this quiz from Cutters Wharf, a charming Belfast pub. It’s not completely old-school, though: you’ll be logging in on your phone to play this game, and using your desktop as the screen. There are sweet prizes to be won, too.
Fortnightly Mondays from Monday May 4, 8.30pm. Free.

Available all the time

If you’ve ever puzzled your way through a real-life escape room, then there’s a chance it was at Escape Hunt. One of Britain’s most popular escape rooms has delved into the virtual space, so for just £14.99, you and your fellow sleuths can take on ‘Murder at the Mansion’, ‘The Treasure of the Aztecs’ or ‘Stolen’. All you need is a printer, a device and the internet. Oh, and a healthy dose of curiosity...

Thanks to the world of video games, you can spend hours traversing the terrain of Ancient Greece, racing cartoon cars against your mates and controlling the movements of wacky virtual characters. There’s a game out there for everyone, you just have to find it. To help you do that, we’ve put together a list of games you can really get lost in while you’re stuck at home. Enjoy, future gamers.
