Like your LOLs with a side of PERi-PERi? Enter the Extra Hot Comedy Club: a sizzling series of gigs hosted in Nando’s restaurants around the UK. We couldn’t be more excited about it, tbh – especially when it comes to the up-and-coming talent that we’re showcasing at each show. Each gig will feature two emerging comics, alongside a headliner (we’re talking the likes of Munya Chawawa and Grace Campbell!) and emcee. The emerging comics were selected in a hotly contested competition, which involved submitting a video to a panel of judges that included Time Out and Nando’s critics alongside Munya Chawawa himself.

The result? Eight awesome emerging comedians that you can catch at Extra Hot Comedy Club gigs this spring.

London

These two fantastic emerging comedians are performing alongside headliners Munya Chawawa and Kyrah Gray, and emcee Sikisa. Unfortunately, tickets to the London gig are sold out!

Vyome Singh

Describe your style of comedy in one sentence: ‘It is like talking to your weird drunk uncle at a dinner party with a dose of exotic charm, easy to listen, hard to digest!’

What’s one spicy thing about you? ‘As a kid I broke my head open six different times, probably that explains most of my weirdness and eccentricities. If you find me funny then thanks to my childhood physical head trauma.’

Why are you excited to perform at the Extra Hot Comedy Club? ‘Back in 2012 when I first came to London, I was so happy to find 'real spicy' chicken at Nandos. It reminded me a bit of home! So performing at Nandos and making other chicken-lovers laugh would be a delight.’

What is your go-to Nando’s order? ‘1/2 HOT Chicken with PERi-PERi chips and Rainbow Slaw.’

Selam Amare

Describe your style of comedy in one sentence: ‘I'd describe my style of comedy as satirical and tongue-in-cheek, with a focus on building bridges, breaking down stereotypes, and celebrating the richness of culture and identity.’

What’s one spicy thing about you? ‘I'm neuro-spicy and Ethiopian, elelelelelele!’

Why are you excited to perform at the Extra Hot Comedy Club? ‘Honestly, I’m just excited to finally meet my comedy hero, Munya Chawawa. I’m a huge fan, and if I’m being real, this whole competition has been a very long-winded way for me to get on his radar.’

What is your go-to Nando’s order? ‘Extra Hot 1/4 Chicken OR The Great Imitator Wrap, PERi-Salted chips, PERi-Mac & Cheese’

Monday March 31, 6.30-10.30pm. Nando’s Great Portland Street. Tickets are sold out.

Birmingham

Join these two awesome comedians as they support headliner Larry Dean and emcee Aurie Styla

Kat Nip

Describe your style of comedy in one sentence: ‘Sassy, bold and high energy series of hot takes and questionable choices, with a sprinkle of Eastern European pizzazz.’

What’s one spicy thing about you? ‘The craziest meat I've tried? My friend's placenta.’

Why are you excited to perform at the Extra Hot Comedy Club? ‘I want to see if my comedy can make people sweat more than the Extra Hot sauce.’

What is your go-to Nando’s order? ‘Cheesy Chickle Burger (I'm a pickles afficionado), Corn on the Cob, Creamy Mash, Coleslaw and PERi Mac & Cheese (all about the sides!).’

Jordan Gill

Describe your style of comedy in one sentence: ‘Storytelling, impressions and observational comedy about modern life.’

What’s one spicy thing about you? ‘I once partied from late night into the early morning on the streets of Rio De Janeiro. It was all the spice I ever wanted in many ways and I loved it.’

Why are you excited to perform at the Extra Hot Comedy Club? ‘Nando’s is my favourite place to eat. I am probably there as you read this… and I am a comedian, so this seems like a match made in heaven.’

What is your go-to Nando’s order? ‘It's got to be 1/2 Chicken, Medium Spice with PERi-PERi-Chips and Spicy Rice! Then I get some hot sauce, cut the chicken and pour it to get the flavour inside. Also I have ketchup for the chips and a glass of ice water. I am getting hungry just writing this.’

Monday April 7, 6.30-10.30pm. Nando’s Birmingham New Street.

Brighton

The excellent comics Ciara and Max will join headliner Chris Hall and emcee Lee Peart

Ciara O’Connor

Describe your style of comedy in one sentence: ‘Girl who peaked in Year 9.’

What’s one spicy thing about you? ‘I was the Virgin Mary in the school nativity. It's not particularly spicy, but there's never a wrong time to boast about it.’

Why are you excited to perform at the Extra Hot Comedy Club? ‘I'm super excited to be taking part in Extra Hot Comedy Club; all of the headline acts are influences for me, and it'll be my first time gigging in Brighton. Some are saying I could be the most influential blonde to pop through Brighton for a gig since Britney headlined 2018 pride on her final UK tour.’

What is your go-to Nando’s order? ‘Chicken Caesar Salad and Bottomless Diet Coke – an ode to hun culture.’

Max McKenzie

Describe your style of comedy in one sentence: ‘My style of comedy is whimsical, topical, honest and silly and dark.’

What’s one spicy thing about you? ‘A spicy thing I want people to know about me is that in a past life I was a vibrator for the queen.’

Why are you excited to perform at the Extra Hot Comedy Club? ‘It’s combined two of my favourite things: Nando’s and comedy! It’s PERi-PERi nuts.’

What is your go-to Nando’s order? ‘My Nando’s order is The Fino Pita with Spicy Rice and Broccoli, if I’ve got money to fling I’d also order some Hot Chicken Wings plus Corn on the Cob then for dessert some Frozen Yogurt. Fingers crossed it’s strawberry.’

Tuesday April 22, 6.30-10.30pm. Nando’s Brighton London Road.

Newcastle

In our final gig in the series, we’ve selected Jen and Donatas to perform alongside headliner Grace Campbell and emcee Matt Reed.

Jen Zheng

Describe your style of comedy in one sentence: ‘Diving clit first into spreadsheets and glitter.’

What’s one spicy thing about you? ‘I'm an Autistic princess: a lady in train-ing. Not officially diagnosed but sure do pass the sniff test!’

Why are you excited to perform at the Extra Hot Comedy Club? ‘I’ve never been to a Nando’s outside of London, and I can’t wait to find out how different it’ll be! Will it taste the same?’

What is your go-to Nando’s order? ‘Fanta Chicken Wings (or Wing Roulette) with PERi-chips and Broccoli! Sometimes with a Ginger Ale.’

Donatas Staneika

Describe your style of comedy in one sentence: ‘Observational stand-up comedy filled with rapid punchlines and spicy thought-provoking bits.’

What’s one spicy thing about you? ‘I moved to the UK to do stand-up comedy without ever having done stand-up before. Best gamble I ever took.’

Why are you excited to perform at the Extra Hot Comedy Club? ‘It's an exciting combination of three great things: the country's love for comedy, the iconic British brand of Nando's, and the world-famous Time Out. Great times multiplied by three.’

What is your go-to Nando’s order? ‘Extra Hot Chicken Wings with Chips.’

Monday April 28, 6.30-10.30pm. Nando’s Newcastle - Eldon Square.
