Happy Wicked day to all those who celebrate. The long-awaited musical film is released today and, with vibrant real life sets, is a real feast for the eyes. Wicked’s director, Jon M Chu made a point of creating as much of the set in real life as possible, including planting a whopping 9 million tulips.

Now, a farm in Norfolk has revealed that it was behind the stunning field of pink, red and white tulips featured in the film. And members of the public will be able to see it with their own eyes next year.

Chu chose the 25-acre field at Belmont Nurseries, near the town of King’s Lynn, after seeing it in a viral online video.

The owners, Mark and Susanna Eves, told the BBC they first met with the film’s location manager and set designer in 2022. They planted long rows of pink, red and white tulips.

Mark said: ‘It all seemed very simple to start with, as we do the field every year, but when you realise the patterns and colours and order they wanted, with nine million bulbs, it was a lot of organisation.’

‘I was very nervous that we got the right colours in the right place, but it came right in the end.’

Soon, you could see the flowers for yourself. Each year, around April and May, the farm invites the public to visit the tulips to raise money for charity. The fields are closed for now but details around the opening dates for 2025 will be revealed in April.
