Here’s something you don’t see every day. Not just a holiday rental in an old church, but one that is also a mega-swish design masterpiece in the heart of the picturesque Cotswolds. Extremely exciting stuff, we know.

The rental in question is called The Old Mission Church and it’s near the town of Chipping Campden in Gloucestershire. And while, sure, converted churches are pretty much always impressive, it’s how this one has been transformed into a holiday home that makes it really stand out.

On the one hand, the church has all yer usual church-y features: stained glass, high vaulted ceiling, a clock and bell tower and arched windows. But it’s also something of a design gem. The inside looks a little whacky, with one mezzanine bedroom on stilts above the living room called ‘The Pod’. And beneath that bedroom is a very, very swanky kitchen indeed.

Some readers might recognise the church/home – and there’s a very simple reason for that. The Old Mission Church featured in series two, episode five of TV show ‘George Clarke’s Amazing Renovations’. Here are a few pictures of the place.

In terms of practical stuff, The Old Mission Church has two bedrooms and bathrooms and sleeps four guests. It’s also dog-friendly and, while four miles from Chipping Campden, is also within walking distance of one pub called the Ebrington Arms. In the north Cotswolds, it’s all ideally located for exploring the Cotswolds National Park.
