One thing about adulthood is that your friendship group gets scattered all over the country. Everyone is perpetually busy and you’re lucky if you get the whole gang together more than once each year. If you’ve managed to push past the mammoth task of agreeing on a date for your next big trip, here’s an incredible property for your consideration.

Wildboarclough House in the Peak District, also known as ‘The Old Post Office’, is a former printworks. It’s a short drive from Macclesfield and has been around for roughly 200 years. Now, after huge renovations, it’s spectacular luxury accommodation for up to 30 guests. If there’s anything that’s going to get the holiday out of the group chat, it’s this place.

The house has basically everything you could ever want from a luxury retreat – and a bunch of stuff you didn’t even know you needed. There’s a large heated indoor pool, a yoga studio, pizza oven, Swedish hot tub, cinema room, an orchard, croquet and pétanque lawns, a fire pit and a South-African-style Braai barbeque.

If you have time to sleep in between exploring the place, you have the choice of then ‘super-king’ bedrooms with ensuites or one of the single beds in the converted attic, all tucked into their own curtained alcoves.

And here’s a fun fact: the architects behind the property’s restoration incorporated the Japanese art form of ‘yakisugi’, which involves strengthening the property’s wooden skeleton through charring. It’s thought to be the first known example of yakisugi in Europe.

A seven-night stay at Wildboarclough House starts from £6,829 during off-peak season (that’s around £228 per person if all the beds are filled) and goes up £12,650 (£422 per person). Make your booking enquiry here

You really have to see the property to believe it. Take a look at these pics for an idea of what to expect.
