You can stay in all sorts of weird and wonderful buildings these days. Scotland in particular is a bit of a hotspot for quirky getaways. Railway enthusiast? Spend a week in a Victorian train station. Fed up of literally everyone? Run away to your own island for a bit. Caught the Barbie bug? Escape to this pink castle in Ayrshire.
If none of those are quite doing it for you, try the stunning and recently renovated Bridge House, which stretches across the River Ardle in Perthshire and is available to rent on Airbnb.
The two-bedroom Airbnb was built in 1881 as part of the Blackcraig Castle estate, so it’s oozing with history and character. It features stone spiral stairs, traditional Scottish timber clad walls, stone and pine flooring plus an original privy directly over the water below (don’t worry, twenty-first century loos are available).
There’s also a charming turret leading out into a courtyard area where you’ll find you’re very own private sauna. How boujee. Here are some pics of the place.
The reviews of the property are positively glowing. One guest said that the house ‘felt like we were transported back in time’ and another said ‘staying here felt like stepping into the pages of a fairytale’. Consider us convinced.
The Bridge House is available to book over on Airbnb here.
