Is owning one house just not enough? Have you always dreamed of having your own little cluster of homes to float between? Maybe you’ve even wanted a whole street?

If you’re lucky enough to have just shy of a million lying around somewhere, that dream could be a reality. The average house price in London is between £700,000 and £800,000 but for not that much more, you could move to Wales and rule over an entire street.

Colum Terrace in Cardiff is a street slightly tucked away from the bustle of Cathays, one of the city’s main student areas. It is made up of just three houses and right now, the whole trio is going up for auction with a guide price of £900,000. That’s less than the price of a flat in some areas of London. There are no buildings on the other side of the road besides a university faculty building, so you would the street’s be the only residents.

Number two, four and six Colum Terrace are all bay-fronted properties with similar layouts. Number two and four both have four bedrooms and two reception rooms and apparently could both benefit from refurbishment and modernisation throughout.

Number six is lived in by the current owner of the street and as such is in much better nick than its neighbours. This one has five bedrooms and two receptions plus a study, kitchen and utility room on the ground floor.

The first two homes both have gardens that could do with a little TLC, but number six’s has been well-maintained and is particularly big, even boasting a now-disused swimming pool. Two garages are also included in the sale.

And if you’re lucky enough to become the new owner of the trio, it seems your options are endless. Huw Edwards (no, not that one) of Seel & Co said: ‘As three private dwellings there is the opportunity to live in one and rent or sell the others, giving you the unusual chance to decide who your neighbours are going to be, rent and sell them all, or have the whole family move to the street with a different house for different layers of the family.’

Bidding for Colum Terrance is opening at noon on Monday, July 10 and closing at 5:57pm on July 11. You can check out all the information on the official listing here.
