It’s the festive season, and for those who love to party, it’s also party season. We’re talking rogue dinner parties, regrettable work drinks, loud tables at a BYOB and incredibly stressful New Year’s Eve event planning.
But things are getting very, very booked up at the minute (especially pubs, thanks World Cup) and bagging a table during the festive season can be all but impossible. So how about this: getting all your pals together, and renting an entire pub for your next holiday. That’s right. It’s a thing.
A huge Grade II-listed pub in the Peak District has just become available to rent as a holiday let, and you’re going to want to get involved. The Temple in historic spa village Matlock Bath comes with its own wooden bar to let loose at, and the best part? No last orders. Oh, and the two hot tubs on site. Yes, really.
The pub can fit 34 guests across its 15 bedrooms, and has incredible views of the surrounding area, four stylish leather sofas, and that all-important piano for those late-night renditions of ‘Hey Jude’. In the day time, you can take a scenic walk around through the woods along the River Derwent, and pay a visit to the Peak District Mining Museum, Gulliver’s Kingdom and the local arcades.
But there is one catch. The beer taps at The Temple don’t actually work, as they’re for ‘show only’, but you can play bartender by bringing your own bevvies and shoving them in the fridge. Plus there’s table tennis, air hockey, a pool table and karaoke machine, so you should be all right for activities. Find out more at Holiday Cottages here.
