It’s mid January, which means that many of us have already given up on trying to get fit this year. But for the brave soldiers who haven’t yet abandoned the outdoors, the north comes bearing gifts in the form of hundreds of miles of brand-new cycle routes in Yorkshire.

Route YC, the organisation behind the project, describes it as ‘a new way to explore the Yorkshire Coast, where you can create your own amazing adventure throughout 100 miles of glorious coastline.’

There will be six different paths, ranging from nine to 240 miles, all different levels of difficulty and intensity. Each route is tailored to show off different aspects of the coast; the Bridlington route focuses on nature reserves and local wildlife, while the Hornsea route passes through a small seaside village where you can live like a proper Yorkshireman (or Yorkshirewoman). There are even walking routes if cycling isn’t for you.

Signing up to the guides will also unlock plenty of non-bike related resources about Yorkshire, like where to find the best sea views or pubs. So go forth and adventure where pints cost less than £7 and people still buy houses! A land so magical must not be missed.
