By the time Easter rolls around, it’ll have been a long old while since we were last treated to a bank holiday – a national long weekend will feel well overdue. And in 2025 the year’s first bank holiday (after New Year’s Day) will feel a particularly long time coming, as we’ll have waited a whole 20 days longer than we did last year.

While 2024 saw Easter weekend begin on March 29, this year Good Friday falls on April 18, with Easter Monday landing on April 21 (sorry Scots, only certain Scottish councils take the Monday off). The good news is that that means you’ve got loads more time to make your Easter plans as a result. And at Time Out, we’ve got all the guides you need to do just that.

To walk off that hefty Easter roast, take your pick from Time Out’s favourite forests to visit in the UK or the country’s most breathtaking hikes. Course, it’ll be the long school holidays (Monday April 7 to Monday April 21 for most), so here are the finest campsites in the UK, the top immersive living museums and the most beautiful beaches to help you pass the time with your brood.

If you happen to be in London for the break, get to know London’s best chocolate shops, its best Easter activities for kids and its top ten seasonal stuff to do overall

Before Easter arrives, remember that there’s Mothers’ Day and Shrove Tuesday (aka Pancake Day) to prepare for, too. For those, we strongly suggest sifting through the best places serving pancakes in London and Time Out’s guide to all things Mothering Sunday

You won’t have long to wait before not one but two more bank holidays. After Easter the next UK public hols are on May 5 and May 26.
