So, you’ve been dreaming of gallivanting round Spain, sipping aperols in Rome or sunning by the sea in Barbados. But your wallet is giving you that ‘not gonna happen’ look, and the flight cancellations are kind of stressing you out anyway.

Friends, we have the answer. You can have the time of your life without even leaving the UK. Yep, there’s so much to do in our own stomping ground, you actually don’t have to leave to have a good time.

And if you’re the kind of holidaymaker who likes to keep things active? Well, here’s some good news: there are two brand-spanking-new walking routes on the south coast for you keen walkers to get your boots into.

Two coastal paths have opened from Calshot to Gosport and Gosport to Portsmouth, forming the first complete trails of what will become the world’s longest continuous walking route – the England Coast Path.

So get those boots laced up, because this is going to become a big one. The two new paths that are now open to the public stretch over 52 miles, running along the banks of the Solent, which is the perfect spot for chilling, paddling and potentially sipping on a G&T in a can. You didn’t hear that from us, though.

There’s also a ton of wildlife surrounding the areas, as well as fields of never-ending green, so you can snap a load of pics for the ’gram too. And when it’s all open way in the future, the full walk will stretch to a frankly ridiculous 2,700 miles. That’s quite the trek.

ICYMI: this is officially the greatest road trip in the UK.

Plus: an oil rig off the British coast is being transformed into a spectacular work of art.
