Chadlington is a quaint little village in the Cotswolds, not far away from Chipping Norton. It has winding roads, a parish church, and loads and loads of old, fairytale cottages. And it also happens to be where the first season of Clarkson’s Farm was filmed, the show hosted by famously opinionated broadcaster Jeremy Clarkson.

Surprisingly (or not), this has caused searches for Chadlington homes for sale to soar – with searches climbing 373 percent compared to a year ago following the latest series.

But the interest hasn’t necessarily been good news for house sellers. Out of the five Chadlington properties listed for sale on Rightmove, three have been reduced in price by up to £50,000 – a collective of £135,000.

three-bedroom cottage, sold by Butler Sherborn estate agents, has been reduced from £695,000 to £645,000. A semi-detached barn conversion is for sale for £700,000 via Mark David estate agents, a reduction on its original asking price of £750,000. And there’s also a renovated, three-bed family home, on the market for £860,000, reduced from its original price of £895,000.

It looks like the people searching for homes in the area might just be window-shopping – or perhaps aren’t overjoyed at the prospect of their Top Gear neighbour.

Locals are reportedly unhappy with the impact that Clarkson’s farm and shop has had on the area of outstanding natural beauty. In season two of Clarkson’s Farm, the presenter had to apologise to pissed-off residents after he called them ‘morons’. Nice.

ICYMI: The UK’s biggest art prize is coming to this underrated seaside town.
