The UK boasts plenty of excellent schools – and several of those institutions are regularly recognised as among the best on the entire planet. Back in March a prestigious ranking by Spear’s counted 40 British schools as the best in the world, and now three more UK schools have made it through to finals of the T4 Education’s World's Best School prizes for 2024.
T4 Education hands out five ‘World’s Best School’ prizes, with individual awards for ‘community collaboration’, ‘environmental action’, ‘innovation’, ‘overcoming adversity’ and ‘supporting healthy lives’. Shortlisted schools can be found all over the world, from Brazil and the USA to Sierra Leone and Thailand.
In the ‘supporting healthy lives’ category, London state secondary school Avanti House has reached the final three. Integrating yoga and meditation into the curriculum, T4 Education says Avanti House ‘exemplifies how holistic education fosters remarkable student achievement and personal growth’. In the ‘innovation’ field, Grange School in Manchester is in the final three. The special school apparently ‘leads in special education, empowering and fostering the life skills of students with autism with innovative learning environments like a working farm and a student-operated coffee shop’.
The final UK school to make the finals is E-ACT Venturers’ Academy in Bristol, which T4 Education says ‘transforms the lives of children with autism through innovative education’. Venturers’ is in the final of the ‘overcoming adversity’ category.
