Sure, the weather hasn’t been perfect this summer, but it’s still important to get outside when you can. Especially if you are a small child who might otherwise be cooped up inside, bored and inevitably annoying your parents by asking them to watch the same Disney film for the 400th time.
Children love nature. They’re allowed to run, fall, get mud on their hands – everything that is forbidden in mum’s carefully decorated living room. So it’s no surprise that this year at the annual 2024 National Muddy Stilettos Awards, which keeps a close eye on which independent businesses in England are really doing bits each year, an outdoor activity was named as the country’s best family friendly day out.
According to the Muddys, Jimmy’s Farm and Wildlife Park in Suffolk is the country’s best family day out! Home to a variety of animals from camels to polar bears to zebra to geese, the park also has an entire area dedicated to ‘adventure play’, complete with regular playground equipment as well as trampoline-like ‘bouncy pillows’. The onsite Barn restaurant and cafe is ideal for a well earned coffee break halfway through your day.
Entry to Jimmy’s ranges from £17 for concessions and children to £23 for adults. You can book your tickets on the official website here.
Other highly commended destinations for those with children by Muddy Stilettos included Attwell Farm Park, Discovery Land at Priory Farm, Hertfordshire Zoo and Horniman Museum & Gardens. Have a look at the full list of winners here.
Elsewhere in the 2024 Muddy Stilettos Awards, this café has been crowned the best in the country.
