What’s currently in your five-year plan? Travel more? Move careers, have a child? How about going for a Sunday roast at the Bank Tavern in Bristol? Unfortunately, if you haven’t booked that one yet you’d be running out of time. With a four-year long reservations list, the pub is apparently the most exclusive eatery in the world.
Beating restaurants in New York, London, and Barcelona for the title, the Bristolian tavern is currently booked up for the next four years. Its waiting list reopened on New Year’s Day, but was filled up within two hours. But why are people so desperate to dine there?
The Bank, which is in the centre of Bristol, is home to a famous roast dinner, which many claim is the best in the UK. Demand has been steadily increasing since 2019 when they were named the best Sunday Lunch by the Observer, and it shows no signs of stopping. One Facebook commenter remarked that she was, ‘logged on 58m after you posted and you were SOLD OUT… I've been waiting a few years now for my next roast!’
According to restaurant booking service Dojo, the next longest restaurant booking wait in the world is Damon Baehrel’s self-titled New York restaurant, which costs over $500pp for one meal. At least for the Tavern you won’t need to remortgage a house, eh?
