Autumn is officially here (or it will be this weekend, anyway). And while this season is great for cosying up with a hot cuppa, it’s also the ideal time to go on an adventure to a national park and see vast landscapes shimmer in all their red-tinged, autumnal glory.
Thankfully, the UK has tonnes of marvellous national parks – including one that has recently been named the most beautiful in the entire world. Travel company Travelbag has analysed parks around the world based on social media data and ranked them as to which ones are the most beautiful.
Coming in second place was none other than the Lake District. Which, to anyone who’s visited the Lakes, will come as no surprise. Home to some of the country’s highest peaks and most dazzling vistas, the national park rakes in over 15 million visitors every year. Travelbag reckoned it got over four million hashtag mentions – which might be in part due to the area recently getting 4G coverage.
The top spot went to Grand Canyon National Park in the USA, while third place went to Yosemite National Park, also in the US.
Here are the top five most beautiful national parks in the world, according to Travelbag.
- Grand Canyon National Park, USA
- Lake District National Park, UK
- Yosemite National Park, USA
- Rocky Mountain National Park, USA
- Banff National Park, Canada
Did you see that these are the places in the UK where people live the longest?
