Low-cost airlines don’t always have the best reputations. Some may characterise them as stingy for charging extra for everything from water to seat selection, but it’s wrong to paint them all with one brush. Some budget air-travel providers are flying a lot higher than others, and thanks to the aptly named AirlineRatings.com, we can tell you exactly which are most worth your money.

AirlineRatings.com just revealed its picks for the best low-cost airlines in the world right now. It took into account customer reviews from multiple sources, safety and incident ratings, and fleet ages to determine its 2024 award winners.

Winning the regional award for best in Europe, the best budget airline in the UK is officially easyJet. The carrier currently offers more than 1000 routes across 36 countries. Cheap and good – congrats, easyJet.

AirlineRatings.com also named, in no particular order, its top 25 budget providers in the world, and had crowned five best-in-region carriers. Ryanair and Jet2 were also named amongst the planet’s best in cheap air travel.

If you’re interested in AirlineRatings.com’s entire list, you can find it here. The website also has individual ratings of each airline, going into detail on their safety, value for money, and history. It’s great for all you real aviation industry fans out there.

So next time you’re looking for a cheap flight somewhere nice, have a look at easyJet. The bright orange carrier is clearly doing something right to be commended by a website whose bread and butter is critiquing airlines.

Can’t get enough of British aviation?

Us neither. Did you see that this low-cost airline is launching flights between Edinburgh and New York? Or that this is officially the best airline in Europe? We’ve also updated you on how easyJet strikes might disrupt your travels, and why the 100ml rule won’t be scrapped everywhere this year.

Here’s how to apply for a postal vote in the UK, including the 2024 general election registration deadline.
