Staycations are where it’s at. Sure, a swim in the azure Mediterranean sea is lovely from time to time but have you ever cosied up in a quintessentially British cottage, checked out world-leading artwork at UK museums or jumped into the crystal clear waters of the English Riviera?
We could go on an on. In fact we have, with our list of the best places to visit in the UK in 2024, complete with advice on how to spend the perfect day and when to go. Meanwhile, Airbnb has unveiled the top trending UK destinations based on searches by its customers from January to September 2023 for travel in 2024.
Claiming the top spot was the UK’s favourite coastal resort city, Brighton and Hove. Given its vibrant streets, the grandeur of the Royal Pavilion, the recently revamped Dome and of course the bustling seafront, its popularity comes as no surprise.
Offering a much more serene seaside experience and luscious scenery at number two on the list was the Isle of Skye. Elsewhere, there are several regulars like Bath and Bristol on the list but there are also a few more surprising ones thrown in the mix.
Wembley in London made it to number seven on the list courtesy of eight visits from Taylor Swift in the summer and Stretford in Greater Manchester placed just above it at number six thanks to the likes of Green Day and Foo Fighters performing at Old Trafford.
These are the top ten trendiest destinations in the UK, according to research by Airbnb:
- Brighton and Hove, England
- Isle of Skye, Scotland
- Bath and North East Somerset, England
- Stratford, England
- Ayr, Scotland
- Stretford, England
